WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss was a guest on this week’s “Off The Top Rope” segment on ESPN SportsCenter with Jonathan Coachman.

In regards to her becoming a two-time WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bliss said that she has always known that she deserved to be Champion and said that the women on SmackDown have dominated the WWE women’s division over and over again and that their whole division is on fire. Bliss said that nothing else can compare to the blue brand and gave praise to Sara Amato [the former Sara Del Rey] for helping her grow over the past three and a half years and discussed how she told Sara on her first day that she had no idea what she was doing and needed help and that Sara told her that it is a spring, not a marathon and that she owes so much to Sara, who has helped her in so many ways. Bliss also discussed watching WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus when she was growing up and that she looked up to her and that she’s tried to model some of her styles after Trish.

Coachman then discussed how Bliss has been very open about a life-threatening eating disorder that she overcame, to which Bliss said that when she was diagnosed, she was told by doctors that she was 24 hours away from dying and that she was hospitalized and was not allowed to fall asleep, as they feared that she would go into cardiac arrest. Bliss said that she went through two episodes before fighting through it and said that’s kind of why she’s really been open about it, because she remembers looking through magazines and watching television wondering why she can’t look like those girls and what was wrong with her and why she couldn’t look like that. Bliss said that she wants to be that person that shows it is okay, stating that she is 5 foot, has a thick body, loves it, she’s curvy and she’s strong and noted that it’s a day-by-day process and that you have to know your life means more than a number on a scale.

In regards to WrestleMania 33, Bliss said that it is going to be amazing to go into Orlando as the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion and noted that she will have family there as they’re from the city and that she plans on ending 2017 still as the Champion and joked about sending Naomi (who is currently injured) a ticket to come watch as everyone gets to see what a real Champion looks like. Bliss also discussed her bodybuilding career, participating in other sports, her first day in the company and more.
