WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt was a recent guest on WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast and discussed the former WWE Superstar that inspired his character. Bray said that he was told to change or he wasn’t needed anymore and thought that he was doing great, but was told that, when Austin made comparisons between Bray and former WWE wrestler Waylon Mercy.

Wyatt said that by coincidence, the same day that he was told that news, Dan Spivey who played Waylon Mercy was at the WWE Performance Center and he had a conversation with him, where Mercy explained the character. Wyatt noted that he watched it, along with some Robert DeNiro films, Rob Zombie films and Charles Manson interviews and wanted to combine them all into one character, stating that eventually, it became natural for him and that if you would’ve thrown Husky Harris a microphone and said talk, it would’ve been wrong.

Wyatt said that as a child, he had a really intense childhood friend named Bray White who was in a car accident and lost all feeling in his face, rendering him difficult to knock out and said that’s how he came up with the Bray part of his name and that the Wyatt part came from Wyatt Earp.
