According to a report from our sister site WWEDVDNews.com, WWE have green-lighted an upcoming DVD which will showcase CM Punk’s career in the company, from his debut in ECW to his current role as the WWE Champion.

The 3-Disc DVD was first confirmed as being in the works back in November, and CM Punk’s big announcement on Colt Cabana’s podcast was that the release has officially been “given the green light” by WWE. On there he spoke of not wanting to keep the DVD a surprise because of his desire to make it extra special in every way for the fans, his chance to tell his story and do all kinds of wacky stuff at the same time. Regarding the DVD’s format and content Punk says it will be, “the old documentary/life story/follow me around with a camera to find out what I’m really like behind the scenes”. He confirmed he’s the one picking the matches, which personalities are to be interviewed for the documentary portion and that he was told by WWE he’s in charge fully.

Whilst most WWE Superstars who get the DVD treatment often say they have creative control, it looks like he is really going for it. “I’ve already made a lot of people angry with the decisions made with the DVD”, says Punk.

He recalls the story of setting aside time to watch the recent Randy Orton and Chris Jericho sets (supposedly the first WWE DVD superstar documentaries of his co-workers that he has ever watched), and then sending a “ridiculously long” email to the WWE employees assigned to the project about what he wants for his. The first thing on his list was hating the usual narrators heard in the background and the choices of music. For his own DVD, Punk says he is refusing to have any part of his life or career highlighted with a soundtrack from “crappy bands like Switchfoot”. Instead, he intends to be going with music from bands he actually likes and is friends with.
