While we have not been able to confirm this with WWE, David Shoemaker, author of “The Squared Circle: Life, Death and Professional Wrestling” and journalist for Grantland and Deadspin noted on his official Twitter account that he has heard that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan requires Tommy John surgery and as a result will be out of action until the end of the year.

“I’m hearing Daniel Bryan needs Tommy John surgery and will be out at least 3 more months.”

For those unfamiliar with Tommy John surgery, the surgery is a procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a tendon from somewhere else in the body and is common among athletes, especially baseball players and is named after the first baseball player to undergo the surgery, MLB pitcher Tommy John.
