In an interview with WWE’s official website, WWE Hall of Famer Adam “Edge” Copeland commented on landing the role of “Atom Smasher” for The Flash Season 2 which premieres tonight at 8pm Eastern on the CW Network, as well as having the opportunity to bring the character to life on television.

Highlights of the interview are below:

On his character Atom Smasher: “First and foremost, he is a badass. I tried on the costume and the mask and looked in the mirror and just said, whoa, this must be how Demon Kane feels when he puts on the mask every time. I was so excited to be a character in the DC Comics world and bring this well-known character to life. It’s a little bit of a different take from the comics, which is cool, but similar enough that comic fans will appreciate it.

On whether his character will remain masked or whether fans will get to see his face: “You guys will get to see my mug. I would have been disappointed if I always had to wear the mask because I want the WWE Universe to see my face.”

On how physical the role was: “It was a walk in the park compared to WWE! Anytime I was asked if I could do something physical, I said no problem. There is one scene where I was held by wires up on my tip-toes, perpendicular to the floor, with a giant fan blowing at me and had to stand perfectly straight without using my arms for about 30 minutes. Basically, I did a 30-minute plank, it was a great workout. The next day, my butt was sore, that’s probably too much information.”
