According to a report from Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com, current WWE Champion CM Punk will be escorting UFC “loudmouth” Chael Sonnen to the octagon for Sonnen’s fight against Mark Munoz for the UFC on FOX television broadcast on January 28th at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, just one day prior to the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view where Punk will defend his WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler with WWE RAW Interim General Manager and the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis serving as special guest referee.

The report notes that Punk will not be in the corner during the fight and will simply walk Sonnen to cageside, much like other celebrities have done for boxing fights and other MMA fights. The pairing is a sensible one as Punk is a big fan of Mixed Martial Arts and from the Chicago area, whilst Sonnen has always made it known that he has an interest in the world of professional wrestling. Helwani then made a fun note that there is no word on whether Sonnen will change from Daryle Singletary’s “Too Much Fun” to Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality”, which is being used by Punk on WWE television.
