First Four Participants Announced For ROH Survival Of The Fittest 2014

Ring of Honor Wrestling sent out the following:

First Four Participants for SOTF ’14
Nov 7th Columbus / Nov 8th Toledo, Ohio

It’s an ROH tradition and this year it’s coming to Columbus and Toledo: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST! The most historic tournament in Ring of Honor has been won by legendary athletes such as Bryan Danielson, Delirious, Tyler Black, and Jay Lethal. It’s long been regarded as a critical step toward greatness in ROH and a huge accomplishment for whoever wins it. Today we have some information about the format as well as the first four participants!

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST begins with a round of Qualifying Matches. In the past, we’ve seen everything from singles competition to tag matches to Four Corner Survival qualifiers! But whatever hand you’re dealt in your qualifier, if you can pull out a victory it’s only the beginning. The final of SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST is an absolutely grueling Six Way Elimination match to determine most dominant athlete of the entire tournament!

The first four participants in SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST 2014 are:

MATT SYDAL: “Reborn” Matt Sydal has returned to ROH and now he has a chance to accomplish something he never has before: win SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST! Sydal participated in the 2006 tournament and made it into the finals, but he didn’t manage to survive the eliminations. Now he as another shot against a whole new field of contenders! An impressive performance in this tournament would definitely put all of ROH on notice that Matt Sydal is back and better than ever!

CEDRIC ALEXANDER: Recently, Cedric Alexander won the ROH Golden Gauntlet and secured a World Title shot. He’s no stranger to enduring high pressure matches full of hungry competitors. However, this is Cedric’s very first change at this particular opportunity. A victory in SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST would etch his name into ROH history and elevate him to the next level alongside past winners!

HANSON: Hanson made his mark in ROH by dominating the 2014 Top Prospect Tournament and forcing the professional wrestling world to take notice. One of the most massive and strongest athletes in Ring of Honor, Hanson’s size gives him an instant advantage over most opponents. He might be new to ROH, but he hasn’t wasted a second when it comes to establishing himself as a force!

RODERICK STRONG: The last of the four participants announced has the longest and most successful history in SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. The numbers tell an intimidating story to the other contenders. Roderick Strong has competed in SEVEN Survival of the Fittest tournaments. He’s been in the finals FIVE times. And in 2005, Roderick Strong won the entire tournament! There is no substitute for experience – as Roderick Strong would no doubt confirm – and he is the most seasoned tournament veteran.
