Triple H held a press conference today to promote WWE NXT Takeover on the WWE Network tomorrow night. Adam Hopkins opened the call and welcomed everyone, before passing it over to Triple H who joked that he was the person playing the piano for the waiting music and said that he’s happy to be here and hesitant to call NXT a development anymore and said that it was more or like going from college football to pro football and that he sees NXT like ECW was back in the day, an alternative product and a feeder system to the WWE. Triple H then said that tomorrow night, for just $9.99 a month to those that haven’t subscribed and he wants them to do so now, they can witness WWE NXT Takeover and then put over the Fatal Four Way match for the WWE NXT Championship and the four competitors in the match, noting how good they are. HHH then talked about Bayley challenging Charlotte for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship and said that he’s proud of that division. He then put over the Hair vs. Hair match and guaranteed that at the end of the night, someone will be bald leaving Full Sail University. Triple H then promoted the debut of KENTA and said that it’s part of the WWE’s global initiative. HHH then went back and talked about Full Sail, noting that both sides have a great partnership and that over the next few days, they will be giving out more scholarships, noting that they use the money from the NXT shows to fund the scholarship fund and that this week they will top $100,000 in scholarships that they have given out.

The floor was then opened up for questions and answers. The first caller asked if the NXT crossover on WWE television this week would happen more on WWE RAW and other shows, to which Triple H noted that they were open to doing that in a lot of different ways and said that it’s in the conversation and depends on the situation. He noted that in this case, the appearances of NXT stars was done to promote Thursday’s show and said that anything new will always feel fresh, but he also doesn’t think that anyone would watch them and think they are developmental and that now it’s just a matter of bringing them up in the manner that they want to bring them up. Triple H was then asked about the potential debuts of Kevin Steen and Fergal Devitt and said that there was a plan in place for both superstars and his goal is to bring them up in the biggest way possible and wants to make sure that they are all put out there in the biggest way possible and wants to make them all as big a star as possible.

The next caller discussed the ECW/NXT comparisons and asked Triple H about using NXT more as an asset to push the WWE Network, noting that they could use certain NXT talents as a subset on RAW and even do live events on the WWE Network. HHH said that they are open to all of that and it’s a work in progress, noting that they are figuring out as they go along and wants to figure our the best way to spotlight the NXT talents while also keeping it special and said that letting them break out on WWE RAW and WWE SmackDown every week means that they are now on RAW and SmackDown and he wants it to be special and said that he loves hearing from fans that they bought the WWE Network for the pay-per-views and discovered NXT and it’s their favorite thing each week and said that the best platform is still a work in progress and that they are working to figure out what is best for WWE RAW, WWE SmackDown and WWE NXT. Triple H was then asked about so many talented guys in NXT, whether something like the nWo or an Invastion could be a possibility. HHH noted that it’s not off the table and that they pitch ideas to Vince McMahon and then it bubbles back down and said that if people want to make the ECW comparison, he wants to be WCW. He was then asked about the learning curve and experience upon taking over the developmental system and said that it’s never what you expect things to be and that you have to be open to learning and finding out new things and that you never stop learning about the wrestling business becuase it changes every single day and if you think you have all the answers, then you are wrong and that things like that worked 10 years ago will not work today and if you don’t grow and change, then you’re as good as done and said that what he wanted WWE developmental to be in his head and where he could see it going is what he envisioned and what he went and pitched to Vince McMahon and talked about it and said that they’re both victims of their own success and that all the other places were gone, so they had to create their own future and that he had the vision and how they got to opening the WWE Performance Center was through hard work, as he wanted a new platform and place for the guys to work that was as professional as you can get, noting that he toured all the major training centers for sports teams and would place the WWE Performance Center up against any of them, stating that he wanted the best of the best and getting there was the hard work. HHH then invited the media to come down to the WWE Performance Center, noting that the editor of Muscle & Fitness was just at the WWE Performance Center and went through a workout camp for an article, joking that it took that guy 3 days to respond to his e-mails.

The next question asked about Kevin Steen, Fergal Devitt and KENTA retaining their names, to which HHH noted that changes could come, but he’s also not going to put his head in the dirt and ignore what has come before and has never understood why you ignore certain things and said that he doesn’t want to pretent that what they did prior to NXT didn’t exist and that changes could be coming and they will be involved and happy with where those changes go and said that you use what you have when you bring it to the table and when he comes in, you build from there. HHH was then asked about Jim Ross meeting with the NFL Players Association in regards to potential talents working for the WWE, to which HHH noted that they have a loose working agreement and that there are some NFL name guys in the process of going through the signing process with the WWE now. The next question asked Triple H about how the NXT guys were received backstage this week and if WWE talent wondered if they needed to step up. HHH said that he loves to watch the way that people in the business react and at first, they were like, go out there and do well guys and then it was kind of like, not that well and said that Fergal, Steen and KENTA are good, really good, so everyone should know that and up their intensity and said it’s fun for him to see that kind of competitiveness and talked up the Attitude Era and how this is what he knows and how everyone wanted to be the best and outdo one another and that the worst thing for the guys is getting complacent.

HHH was then asked to compare the creative process with WWE and NXT if they use NXT stuff for later use on the main roster and said that does happen and it’s a “petri dish” in NXT as they try things there and then bring them up to the WWE to see if they will work and said that what would work in front of 600 fans is often different than what would work in Madison Square Garden, but put over the production in NXT, stating that they are the people they hope to have doing that years from now. He was then asked about the NXT stars on RAW and how he felt and said that he was beaming, he was very proud of what they did and loved watching them step up to the next level and react to it and said that he was even prouder when they came in the back, noting that they had learned and grown from it which makes him happy and told a story about Bray Wyatt headlining Madison Square Garden. Triple H was then asked about his own career and how instrumental Mick Foley was and if he made HHH a better performer, to which HHH said absolutely and that all of the guys did that for each other back then and put over his match with Foley for the Title and how it was when Mick wanted to step up to the next level, while HHH wanted to prove himself as a top guy and that he loved Micked and he helped make HHH a better character since Mick was so loved and that he jokes with Mick about being a crazy character at one point and a lovable one down the line.

Triple H was then asked if the NXT talents are developing at the pace he wants and said that everyone is different and progresses are at a different level, as some people pick it up really quickly, while others, not so much and that it depends on the person and the process is individual and said that NXT is growing on its own, crowds are up and they are selling merchandise for the NXT talents, stating that they are part of a brand and learning as they go. He was then asked about taking NXT on the road like RAW and SmackDown and said that is a goal and he wants NXT to be a brand as soon as possible and wants it to grow to the point where he can take it on the road and said that it will continue to grow and mentioned that guys on SmackDown and RAW are still learning, so NXT guys could do it and grow and learn at the same time. HHH said that he wants to grow the talent to the point where Vince McMahon says that he wants people on WWE RAW and he has to fight to keep them on NXT and said that he wants to get there the right way, stating that it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon and said that you have watched the growth since the first special and you can see it. He then thanked everyone for participating and said that he things the press conferences are important and he enjoys doing them as he likes having the open line of communication and then plugged NXT Takeover tomorrow night on the WWE Network. He then said that before he closes, he would like to extend his thoughts and condolences on behalf of the WWE to the family of Sean O’Haire who passed away on Monday. Really classy move to end the call.
