Triple H held a post-WWE NXT Takeover: Chicago conference call following last night’s event, with Triple H opening stating that he did not know how they would follow tonight’s event, but they will find a way and that the talent makes it easy to do so, stating that he was really happy with tonight’s show, that 11,000 people loved it and now, they are on their way to the United Kingdom.

The first caller asked about the finish to the main event between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa where it appeared to be waved off, but continued. HHH said that they were doing what they needed to do since Ciampa was on the stretcher, noting that no bell rang, so the fans were aware of that. HHH said that the fans did not want that outcome, but if he was a betting man, he would say that this is not over between Gargano and Ciampa.

The next caller asked if anyone has come through the WWE Performance Center that surprised him or gotten bigger than he thought they would originally be. HHH said that some talents take a step back, while others thrive when they get to NXT and mentioned that Bianca Belair has no right to be as good as she is so fast, but she is and then mentioned Shayna Baszler also adapting very quickly, while the same can be said for The Velveteen Dream. HHH said that this is what makes him say that this is what makes the system work and that people who said that they would make all talents the same are wrong as that is not what they do. HHH then brought up other talents that have ascended quickly and how mind blowing that is and said as for people that did not pan out, they probably are not here. HHH then mentioned Lars Sullivan and how he is improving, with tonight proving that and said that he is leaving people out, but the system does work.

The next caller asked about former WWN Champion Keith Lee being in the crowd and when the fans can expect to see him on NXT television. HHH said that he is going to let Lee gets settled first, but expects big things to come from him, noting that Lee is a big dude that can do things that he should not be able to do.

The next caller asked about Nikki Cross and whether NXT Chicago was her swansong before a main roster debut with SAnitY. HHH said to never say never, but that he also does not control the main roster, stating that if she is wanted, they will move her up, but if not, she will stay. HHH said that he thinks that Nikki adds that something special to SAnitY and that just because she is not with them now does not mean that she will not be in the future, but he does not know for sure.

The next caller asked about how deep the NXT roster is, since a lot of talent did not even appear on tonight’s card. HHH said that it is definitely really deep and talked about the past when he brought people down from the main roster, where as now, the NXT roster itself is so deep. HHH noted that there are those who were not even on the show and more people coming in all the time and said that he likes that he could do another show tomorrow with the talent he has that did not appear tonight and have that be great as well and thinks that it is one of the deepest rosters they have ever had from NXT to the main roster to those just training at the WWE Performance Center.

The next caller asked about the development of The Velveteen Dream and whether he could be seen as one of if not the biggest star to come out of the Tough Enough show. HHH said that you could look at it that way and from what he has seen so far, his future is incredibly bright and that he has the innate ability to get the business, with no glass ceiling for him and that he will be as good as he wants to be. HHH noted that some people have come in and self-destructed, but that in the case of Velveteen Dream, it is up to him and tht it comes down to talent and what they do with it more than any other factor. The same caller then asked about the Hulk Hogan like attire that The Velveteen Dream wore. HHH said that he liked the creativeness of it and putting the entertainment value in by doing his own thing and likes when people go out on a limb like that as it is a really cool sight and thinks that it is great that he wants to perform and he is all for those little things that Dream does.

The next caller asked HHH how he assessed the show from top to bottom. HHH said that it is a little bit of everything, social media, how many watched and more and that he will look at overnights, three days and seven days as there’s so much there so people can watch them when they want to. HHH said the fact that they could trend number one worldwide on a night that Jay Z and Beyonce dropped an album is an indicator that there was a lot of positive interest stating that the live crowd loved it and he could watch it artistically and see it for himself and as far as he is aware, no one got hurt.

The next caller asked why the United Kingdom talents do not fall under the NXT umbrella and rather fall under the WWE umbrella. HHH said that he thinks that it is ebbing and flowing until it finds its right fit and mentioned that the UK brand has taken longer to get going than he wanted it to, mostly due to business reasons and that as it goes forward, you will see it fall into where it should be and it will be the right place and said that it does fit in with NXT, intimating that the global brands will be something of a new version of a territory system.

The next caller asked about the Ciampa vs. Gargano rivalry and if he could compare it to anything else he has seen before. HHH said that it is great storytelling and that they are so close, so it’s real and that when you can take that and turn it inside out, people invest emotionally and you can go a long way with it because people can feel it and that where it goes next, we shall see, but that you have to wait until tonight plays out to start booking tomorrow, noting that their feud could go on for a while and people would not tire of it, but that you have to be careful in the way you book it.

The final caller asked about how HHH feels when NXT stars go to the main roster and whether he prepares himself for them not being as big on the main roster. HHH said that they prepare them as best as they can, but that you can not expect everyone to go up and become the next mega star and said that over history, a lot of people have been great, but not the guy or even past the middle card and said that you would look at them and see them as Hall of Famers, while today, you would call them mid-card or say that they got screwed by the booking. HHH said that everyone works hard and there is no deserve, stating that 99 percent of the people work their butts off and they are proud of that as making it to WWE is the wow factor and that longevity and making money is the success factor. HHH said that sometimes people that look at it think that the talents are failing, but that he does not see it that way.
