In an update on the ongoing Hulk Hogan/Gawker situation, The Wall Street Journal noted that Hogan and Gawker are in talks of a settlement of sorts regarding the $140 million judgement against Gawker, owner Nick Denton and editor AJ Daulerio over the gossip website posting clips from the sex tape of Hulk Hogan and Heather Clem, which was shot without Hulk Hogan’s knowledge several years prior.

For those wondering, what makes everything interesting in regards to all of this is the fact that Hulk Hogan turned down several attempts at a settlement, potentially due to the fact that his lawsuit was backed by Peter Thiel, the technology billionaire who secretly funded Hulk Hogan’s case as a receipt for the stories that Gawker had published about Thiel and many others, something Gawker responded to in the report from the Wall Street Journal stating, “We’ve been hearing these rumblings many times over the years when the judge ordered settlement discussions and you know where we are now despite that.”

Gawker owner Nick Denton filed bankruptcy last week, while Gawker itself filed for Chapter 11 and is being sold.
