WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan officially settled his legal issues with Gawker today, as part of a confidential settlement, according to a report from Deadline.com who note that the settlement was for $31 million.

Hogan had acquired a $140 million legal judgment against the website, its owner Nick Denton and Albert “AJ” Daulerio, the editor that was responsible for reviewing and posting snippets of the Hulk Hogan sex tape that Hogan was not even aware existed. The ripple effects of that judgment saw Denton file for personal bankruptcy, while Gawker’s parent company filed Chapter 11, before being sold to Univision with Gawker.com shut down due to the website being considered too toxic to remain existing.

Speaking on his personal blog, Nick Denton commented on the matter writing, “After four years of litigation funded by a billionaire with a grudge going back even further, a settlement has been reached. The saga is over. As the most unpalatable part of the deal, three true stories — about Hulk Hogan, the claim by Shiva Ayyadurai that he invented email and the feud between the founders of Tinder — are being removed from the web.”

Denton claimed that while they had expected to win on appeal, the cost of the legal battle was too much to endure, which led to settlement talks and noted that Peter Thiel, who bankrolled Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit as a way to gain a measure of revenge against Gawker for negative reports written about him, had no problem personally financing the issue to continue until the end stating, “the other protagonists — including Hulk Hogan and A.J. Daulerio, the author of the Gawker story about him — had much more at stake. That motivated a settlement that allows us all to move on, and focus on activities more productive than endless litigation. Life is short, for most of us.”

Denton also said that Hulk Hogan’s retirement will be a comfortable one with the settlement. Meanwhile, Davis Houston, the attorney for Hulk Hogan issued a brief statement to Deadline saying, “As with any negotiation for resolution, all parties have agreed it is time to move on.”
