Jim Harbaugh, the head football coach at the University of Michigan, called into the Stoney and Bill radio show earlier today and pushed for WWE to bring WrestleMania 33 to The Big House (Michigan Stadium) in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2017.

“Why not the Big House? Why Not? 140,000, I bet we could get in there for WrestleMania. They’re trying to break the attendance record at Jerry Jones’ stadium in Dallas. There’s a great Canadian presence in wrestling, why not Michigan and the Big House?”

Ford Field in Detroit had been rumored as a location for WrestleMania 33 in 2017, however WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is said to be very intrigued at the capacity of The Big House, despite the fact that there would be a cold outdoor climate at the event. WWE have been paying special attention to attendances at the venue in recent years, most notably the 115,109 who saw Michigan defeat Notre Dame by a score of 41-30 on September 7th, 2013, setting a post-1948 NCAA collegiate football attendance record, the 105,491 on January 1st, 2014 who saw the NHL’s 2014 Winter Classic where the Detroit Red Wings lost to Toronto Maple Leafs in a shootout and the 109,318 on August 2nd, 2014 who watched Manchester United defeat Real Madrid 3-1 in a friendly match, which resulted in the largest attendance for a soccer game in the United States of America to date.
