Former WWE commentator Matt Striker will be working as Jim Ross’ broadcast partner for the January 4th New Japan Pro Wrestling WrestleKingdom 9 pay-per-view at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan according to a report from WrestlingINC.com who note that Jeff Jarrett came to terms with Matt Striker on Saturday to work the show.

Striker will join Ross on the show in the position that was originally set for TNA Wrestling commentator Mike Tenay. Global Force Wrestling, as well as Tenay himself had an interest in him working the show while promoting the company’s move to Destination America, however TNA refused to let him do the event, citing Global Force Wrestling as competition.

Other names that Global Force Wrestling held discussions with before choosing to go with Striker included Rene Dupree, Ron Niemi, Mauro Ranallo and Kevin Nash.
