It is with deep sadness to announce that legendary professional wrestler Rip “The Profile” Hawk (real name Harvey Maurice Evers) passed away this morning at the age of 82.

Hawk is probably best known for his time as part of the tag team The Blond Bombers alongside Swede Hanson. He was also a booker for Jim Crockett Promotions in the 70’s.

Hawk was encouraged to wrestle professionally by the legendary boxer Jack Dempsey and is often credited with the development of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair in the Carolina regions, as Flair had come to Carolina in the early 70’s as an unknown and was revealed as the nephew of Hawk, with the two going on to win the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship on July 4th, 1974, which was Flair’s first Championship in his career.

On behalf of the website, we would like to extend our condolences to the Evers family.
