- Speaking through his official Twitter account, WWE SmackDown superstar Randy Orton responded to whether he would be appearing at the WWE Summerslam pay-per-view event on August 19th by stating that he’s not working. Orton also noted that he landed in Japan with the SmackDown crew and watched The Avengers, The Hunger Games and more on the flight which was 12 and a half hours long.
- There are big plans in store for Wade Barrett’s return to the company with many feeling that he will have a run with a top-level title in the company in the coming months. Barrett is expected to return on television after the WWE Summerslam pay-per-view.
- In response to Moms Against McMahon’s latest attempts to take awareness away from Linda McMahon’s Senate campaign, WWE issued the following response, “All WWE broadcast programming is TV-PG, rated not by us, but by the standards and practices departments of our TV network distributors, while the majority of today’s prime time programming is rated TV-14. Five million women watch WWE’s weekly TV programming, representing nearly 40 percent of our TV audience. Women would not be watching if they found our programming objectionable.”
- There is talk within the WWE of having Brodus Clay drop his “Funkasaurus” gimmick in favour of giving him more of an edge. If the plans go ahead, there is no word as to whether Cameron and Naomi would remain on the main roster or return to the company’s developmental system. Brodus is to appear in the upcoming WWE Studios’ film “No One Lives”.
- TMZ.com have picked up on a tweet posted by WWE Champion CM Punk who didn’t mention UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones by name but made reference to his endorsement deal with Nike. More is available at this link.
- There are many people within the company unaware as to what Kelly Kelly’s status with the WWE is. Two stories making the rounds are that Kelly is now back with the company following her temporary hiatus, however another story states that the former WWE Divas Champion is only back until the Summerslam pay-per-view and will go back on hiatus as an ambassador for the company.
- As of writing, there is a big angle written in to Monday’s script for WWE RAW, however as we all know with the company, plans can change between now and Monday. The angle is being written to gain any last minute interest in the WWE Summerslam pay-per-view. Speaking of Summerslam, the expectation is that Charlie Sheen will not be appearing at the pay-per-view on August 19th unless the company work out a last minute deal to have him appear.
- UFC fighter Diego Sanchez noted in an interview with MMAFighting.com that he is interested in working with Daniel Bryan (who has noted that Sanchez was the main influence of his “YES” chants) and has contacted the WWE superstar. “My team has reached out to them and we’ll see what happens. We both are the ‘Yes’ men and if we could help each other that’s what it’s about. It’s about that positivity and motivating yourself to do things you could never do when unmotivated.”
- WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz filmed a cameo earlier this year for The Campaign starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis which opens tomorrow, however Miz’s cameo has since been cut from the film.
