WWE star Randy Orton is divorced from his wife of five-and-a-half years, Samantha, according to a report on TMZ.  According to the report, the couple quietly separated in 2012.

Court records show that Samantha officially filed for divorce on March 22, Orton was personally served on April 11 (just days after WrestleMania 29), and the divorce was made official on June 20.   The court record also indicates that a motion was filed on November 5, 2012, which appears to be when divorce proceedings began.

TMZ are also reporting that included in the divorce papers is Randy Orton’s reported WWE salary of $291,666 per month, which translates to approximately $3.5 million annually.

The settlement, according to the same court documents, states Orton gets two cars, one motorcycle, several “six-figure bank accounts,” his gun collection, jewelry, and one house. Samantha gets one car, a bank account worth $654,317, and her jewellery collection.  Samantha also gets “sole legal and sole physical custody” of their daughter, Alanna. Orton has visitation rights, though, and will pay $4,500 per month in child support.

Orton is the latest major WWE star to get divorced. In 2012, top star John Cena was divorced from his then-wife, Elizabeth, which WWE then incorporated into the WrestleMania 29 build-up.  WWE attributed Cena’s loss to The Rock as the start of a “personal and professional downward spiral” as a contributing factor in Cena’s divorce.  It remains to be seen if Orton’s divorce is also incorporated into storylines.  Orton’s wife was involved in the build to Orton’s match against CM Punk at WrestleMania 27, though she was played by an actress.

It is worth noting that Orton was away from home for a long period of time in September/October filming WWE Studios’s “12 Rounds 2” in Vancouver, Canada.  Related or unrelated, court records indicate that divorce proceedings then began in November.  Orton commented on been away from home for this prolonged period in a recent issue of WWE Magazine, stating:

“I was gone five weeks doing the movie, but I would fly back and forth to compete on Raw and SmackDown.  In eight weeks, I was only home for three days. So that was the longest time I’d ever been away, on the road.”

While promoting “12 Rounds 2” in early June, Orton still referred to Samantha as his wife.  The divorce was then finalized at the end of June.  Specifically, Orton told satellite radio host Sam Roberts that he regrets putting his family on his WWE DVD documenting his personal and professional journey.  When asked by Roberts if he’s glad he put his family on the DVD, Orton replied:

“No, not at all.  Putting them on the DVD was like, ‘Here’s my family.’ And then letting my wife do the interview where she cries, she got some flack for that from these people on the Internet who give our wives a hard time. And that’s hard for her. That’s hard on her. So, you know, I wish I didn’t do that.”
