In an update on the return of Lucha Underground on the El Rey Network for a second season, as of writing, everything is on a holding pattern as of now and while people in the company are hopeful of a deal, nobody has stated anything about whether the show will be renewed for a second season.

According to a report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is said to be working on several other TV deals, including a deal where Televisa would become a partial owner of the promotion, something that could really help the promotion.

The same report notes that the promotion is hopeful of beginning taping for the second season in August, however with nothing announced as of writing, that is currently up in the air. The promotion are also hopeful of signing former WWE superstar Rey Mysterio to a deal, but are believed to be offering him lower than what he was offered a year ago while working for the WWE.
