Former WWE & TNA wrestler Bobby Lashley recently gave an interview to Fighters Only Magazine where he gave an update on the direction of his Mixed Martial Arts career.

The former NAIA National Wrestling Champion revealed that he recently received an offer to join to fast-rising promotion Bellator, where he would no doubt be aiming to face current Heavyweight Champion Cole Konrad. On the offer Lashley said; “It was a contract that was just put on the table… I got the call yesterday so I don’t even know any of the details of the deal. I think Bellator is a great company and I would love to be able to fight for them.”

Lashley also noted that he would relish the prospect of facing long-standing World Heavyweight Champion of the now defunt PRIDE Fighting Championship “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko. “The guy’s got a tremendous amount of fights under his belt… I’d like to fight him.” According to Lashley he is on a shortlist compiled by M-1 Global as Fedor’s next opponent.

Speaking on how would take on Fedor, Lashley stated; “I’m going to throw everything at him that I can. Of course, my wrestling’s there, I don’t give a damn what he’s doing. I’d put my wrestling up there with almost anyone right now. I think that my wrestling would trump some of the things that he has. I know he’s a great fighter, but if I fought him then of course I’m going to try and wrestle him down… If it was Dave [Bautista], I’m standing and banging with him. I’ve been doing a lot of boxing

Rumours have been floating around for the past year now about a potential fight between the former WWE superstars and Lashley revealed he’d love to fight “The Animal” if that opportunity ever arose.

“I know a lot of people are looking at that fight and saying I shouldn’t take it, but that’s the entertainment aspect of [MMA]. If the wrestling fans want that then it’s an opportunity for me to have a fight, which will probably warrant a good amount of money… I’ll take that fight, no problem.”

While nothing is set in stone at the present time it looks as if Bobby Lashley’s MMA career is back on track after being offered a contract with Bellator FC. As always we’ll keep you updated on what the future hold for the “Soft Spoken, Hard Hitting” former professional wrestler.
