The following are the results for the WWE pay-per-view Battleground, which took place on October 6th, from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

Battleground Kick-Off Show
The panel for tonight’s Kick-Off Show consisted of Josh Matthews, Tensai, Titus O’Neil and The Miz.

Kick-Off Show Singles Match
Dolph Ziggler defeated Damien Sandow by pin fall with the Zig Zag finisher.  During the match, Sandow sold an injury to his knee, after a bad landing on it.

World Heavyweight Championship Match–Hardcore Rules
Alberto del Rio defeated Rob Van Dam (w/Riccardo Rodriguez) by submission to retain the World Championship.  RVD’s arm was stuck in a metal chair, which led to Del Rio stomping on the chair and then applying the Cross Arm Breaker (with the chair still on his arm).  The commentators noted that Damien Sandow injured his knee during his match on the Kick-Off Show, which is why we did not see a cash-in attempt.

Backstage Segment
Zeb Colter with The Real Americans cut a promo against Buffalo, NY, and all the Canadians that sneak across the border. Then they focus on Santino and The Great Khali who are two “non-Americans,” and this tag team match is next.

Tag Team Match
The Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro) (w/Zeb Colter) defeated Santino Marella & The Great Khali (w/Hornswaggle) by pin fall.  Cesaro was able to do his Cesaro Swing on the 7 foot Khali, which enabled the victory.

Intercontinental Championship Match
Curtis Axel (w/Paul Heyman) defeated R-Truth by pin fall to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Divas Championship Match
AJ Lee (w/Tamina) defeated Brie Bella (w/Nikki Bella) by pin fall to retain the Divas Championship.  The ending saw Tamina choking out Nikki Bella on the outside, which served as a distraction to Brie Bella in the ring.  Brie saw this happening, and started heading to the outside, but AJ grabbed her from behind for a quick roll up pin fall.

Backstage Segment
Renee Young asks the Rhodes Family what is at stake tonight? Dusty tells her no matter what happens tonight, they will leave with their heads up. Cody says there isn’t a length he would go to, to protect his family. “Tonight, we fight for our family!” Very powerful and emotional promo. Three generations of Rhodes make their way to the ring now.

Tag Team Match–With Special Stipulations:
If The Rhodes Win – They Get Their Jobs Back
If The Rhodes Lose – They Can Never Work In The WWE Again, And Dusty Gets Fired From NXT

The Rhodes Family (Goldust & Cody Rhodes) (w/Dusty Rhodes) defeated The Shield (Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins) (w/Dean Ambrose) by pin fall, which means Cody Rhodes & Goldust get their jobs back and Dusty keeps his trainers job in NXT.  Great match and stroytelling, really felt like a big time match.  The ending saw Dusty Rhodes and Dean Ambrose mix it up on the outside, and Dusty takes his big belt off and whips Ambrose with it.  Reigns tries to interfere but Goldust takes him out before he is able to reach Dusty.  This leaves Cody Rhodes with Seth Rollins in the ring alone, and Rhodes hits his finisher the Cross Rhodes to get the victory.  The Rhodes Family embrace in the center of the ring with the crowd going crazy, very cool moment.  As they make their way up the ramp, WWE stars and agents come out to congratulate the trio.

Backstage Segment
The Battleground panel discuss the victory by The Rhodes Family, and welcome them back to the WWE. They all are cheering for Daniel Bryan to defeat Randy Orton later tonight for the WWE title.

Brad Maddox is in his office on the phone with Stephanie McMahon, who tells him he is in control of the show for the rest of the evening, and that she and Triple H had to leave early. Vickie Guerrero is in the room and Maddox asks for her help, but she just laughs and walks away.

Singles Match
Bray Wyatt (w/Luke Harper & Eric Rowan) defeated Kofi Kingston by pin fall with his finisher Sister Abigail. After the match, The Wyatt Family attack Kingston and Bray cuts a promo inside the ring. He says one by one they will all fall… Follow the buzzards.

Singles Match
CM Punk defeated Ryback (w/Paul Heyman) by pin fall.  Paul Heyman tried to interfere and hit Punk with a Kendo Stick, but the referee saw this and stopped Heyman.  With the refs back turned, Punk hit Ryback with a low blow, and the referee turned around in time to make the count.

After the match, the Battleground panel give their predictions on the WWE Title match that is next.  They hype up the fact that Triple H and Stephanie are not in the building, and they all predict Bryan to win the belt.  A video package is shown of the entire feud leading up to this match which is next.

***The power went out in Buffalo, the arena loses power and the PPV feed went out. Power is restored nearly 5 minutes later.***

WWE Championship Match
Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton ends in a No Contest?  Daniel Bryan has Randy Orton in his Yes Lock submission move, and the referee is checking Orton as it looks like he is going to tap out.  The Big Show’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring.  Show yanks the referee out of the ring, and Daniel Bryan looks at him wanting to know why he did that.  Bryan stick his head through the ropes towards The Big Show, and Show hits him with a KO punch.  Bryan is laid out in the ring, Brad Maddox comes out and waves for a new ref to come down and make the count.  Out comes the new refereee… Brad Armstrong! Armstrong was fired by Triple H for his “fast count” at the Night of Champions PPV last month, but is back to make the count for Randy Orton who is covering Daniel Bryan.  Just as Armstrong begins his count, Big Show yanks him out of the ring too, and gives him a KO punch.  Big Show climbs into the ring, and Orton is screaming at him for what he did and is calling him stupid.  An irate Orton hits Big Show in the arm, and Show ends up giving him a KO punch.  We now have Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton knocked out in the ring, two referees knocked out on the apron outside, and Brad Maddox on the top of the ramp shaking his head at The Big Show who is in the ring.  We have no winner, no WWE Champion, and we are left with JBL saying that The Big Show will get his day of reckoning.  We’ll have to wait till Monday’s Raw to get the answers.
