WWE issued the following statement distancing themselves for a news story that circulated yesterday where a 20-year-old man performed a powerbomb on an 18-month-old child, killing him due to head injuries.

“There is no excuse for a 20-year-old grown man to assault an 18-month-old child, no matter what. Using a flimsy excuse about emulating a wrestling maneuver does not absolve Brandon Hoffman of this abhorrent crime. The death of Bryson Shoemaker is a tragedy and WWE offers its condolences to the child’s mother, Sierra Shoemaker.”

For those wondering, Mr. Hoffman used The Undertaker’s “Last Ride” powerbomb on the child of his girlfriend, but missed the bed for the landing, resulting in the child crashing on the hardwood floor and suffering head injuries, which led to his passing.
