WWE have come to terms to acquire the rights and the trademarks for the War Games match from Major League Wrestling, according to a report from PWInsider.com.

The report notes that when WWE opted to revive the old concept for the WWE NXT brand back in November 2017, they learned that they could not actually trademark the name, as Major League Wrestling had already done so, which led to WWE scrambling and filing trademarks on a number of old WCW television and pay-per-view titles including WCW Monday Nitro, WCW Saturday Night and WCW Fall Brawl, among other names.

The report further states that with WWE using the War Games name for the second time late last year for the NXT brand, WWE reached out to Major League Wrestling and worked out a deal, acquiring the name several months back and that as part of the deal, MLW are no longer allowed to use the concept or the War Games name for their events.
