Wrestling-News.Net reader David Lewis attended last night’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view and sent along the following off-air notes:

– Fans chanted “bull****” as they left the arena, with some making other comments about the finish to the pay-per-view.

– The company had Bob Backlund at hand for photo opportunities and were charging $30 for a photo with the WWE Hall of Famer. Some people took this option instead of buying some merch.

– It was very hard to see what was on the titantron due to the way the stage was set up.

– The fans were behind The Shield, but hugely over for The Rhodes Family and when they won as seen, the place went crazy. Many people near me saying that Goldust looked the best he’s been for years in this current program. The reaction to members of WWE staff and the locker room coming out was great too, with some fans chanting for Finlay and Dean Malenko.

– When power went out and came back on, only the titantron really went out, as the arena lights and WWE lighting switched on and off as fast as you could blink. The company told everyone that there was a power issue and they would be back in a few minutes and asked people to remain seated, however only a few people started to leave.

– The general feeling was that the PPV felt as if we were at a live RAW and not an actual PPV itself. I enjoyed the night myself, but in truth, it did feel like this was a throwaway event and that Hell in a Cell will be the bigger event this month. The best match of the night had to be The Shield vs. The Rhodes Family.
