Netflix will debut the first season of their original series GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling on Friday, March 31st, with all ten episodes of the first season being made available to view on that date.

Alison Brie will be playing the lead in the comedy, which is based on David McLane’s 1980’s female wrestling promotion, The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling which aired for several years and did a national tour based on the success of the series’ syndicated television series which was filmed in Las Vegas. The new original Netflix was created by Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange is the New Black) and was inspired by the documentary on the promotion that was released back in 2012.

For those wondering, the new Netflix original series will tell a new fictional story, set in the 1980’s of an actress (Brie) who uses the promotion and professional wrestling as her last-ditch attempt to become a star. Comedian Marc Maron will be playing the role of Sam Sylvia, a washed-up Hollywood director who has a very complicated history with women, while former WWE & TNA Wrestling star Kia Stevens (aka Kharma/Awesome Kong) will be part of the cast alongside Britt Baron, Jackie Tohn, Kimmy Gatewood, Rebekka Johnson, Kate Nash and Sunita Mani.

Former WWE superstar Chavo Guerrero Jr. is also expected to be credited in the making of the show, as he worked on co-ordinating the wrestling scenes for the series.
