In a post on his official Twitter account, former MLW National Openweight Champion and MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone revealed that he recently requested his release from the company, confirming news first reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select.

The post reads, “My time with @MLW was 5 of the best years of my life and career. Very proud of what I and the company accomplished. I wish them continued success. I have recently asked for my release as I feel it’s what’s right for me at this time. Thank you @courtbauer for the opportunities.”

Hammerstone last competed for MLW as part of their MLW Never Say Never event back in July when he dropped the MLW World Heavyweight Championship to Alex Kane.
