It is with deep sadness to announce that WWE Hall of Famer, Chief Jay Strongbow (Joe Scarpa) passed away earlier this morning at his home in Atlanta, Georgia aged 83.

Scarpa was a highly accomplished wrestler during his career with his accomplishments including being a 2-time NWA Brass Knuckles Champion, the NWA Florida Heavyweight Champion, the NWA Southern Tag Team Champion (Florida version) 3 times with Jose Lothario, the NWA World Tag Team Champion (Florida version) 1 time with Don Curtis, the NWA Gulf Coast Heavyweight Champion, the NWA Southern Tag Team Champion (Gulf Coast version) 1 time with Lee Fields, the NWA Mid-America World Tag Team Champion, 2 times with Lester Welch and once with Alex Perez, the NWA Georgia Heavyweight Champion, the NWA Macon Tag Team Champion with El Mongol, the NWA World Tag Team Champion (Georgia version) with Don Curtis, the WWC Caribbean Heavyweight Champion, a 4-time WWWF Tag Team Champion, once with Sonny King, once with Billy White Wolf and twice with Jules Strongbow and a member of the 1994 WWE Hall of fame class.
