Lucha Libre Factory Made Ventures, the production company who are primarily known for being behind the Lucha Underground promotion, filed a lawsuit recently against Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide in the State of California, claiming that they own the rights to any money that AAA makes outside of the borders of Mexico, according to a report from LuchaBlog.

The report notes that the lawsuit accuses AAA of breach of written contract, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, copyright infringement, trademark infringement and unfair competition and that Lucha Libre Factory Made Ventures were given the exclusive rights to distribute AAA events outside of Mexico, the exclusive rights to sell AAA merchandise outside of Mexico and the exclusive rights to otherwise exploit and monetize AAA outside of Mexico.

Lucha Libre Factory Made Ventures claim that Mexico’s AAA violated the agreement by beginning deals with Marvel, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Watch, Turner International and Pluto TV and argue that these are worldwide deals and effectively, all proceeds should be going to them, with them seeking all the money from the agreements (at least $2.5 million), statuary damages and lawyers fees.
