Combat Zone Wrestling and Dragon Gate USA star Sami Callihan worked a dark match at last night’s WWE SmackDown tapings in Providence, Rhode Island, losing to Johnny Curtis.

Callihan has been on the company radar for some time and has been recommended by both Tommy Dreamer and Dave “Fit” Finlay. He received good reviews last night for his ring work and his attitude and while he has fans within the company, many believe that his size could be something that may hold him back. He is still under contract to Dragon Gate USA, however their policy is to release talents if WWE comes calling, not wanting to hold a certain talent back from going further in their career.

As of writing, Callihan has not signed a deal with the WWE and is still booked for Dragon Gate USA’s events at the beginning of November, where he will face off against Samuray del Sol on November 2nd in Everett, MA before facing El Generico in a Best of Three Falls match in Voorhees, NJ and finishing the last event on November 4th in Deer Park, NY against CIMA.
