In a recent interview with Renee Paquette as part of her Oral Sessions podcast, newly-signed All Elite Wrestling superstar Christian Cage opened up on his decision to sign with the company, noting that when Paul Wight (fka The Big Show) made the announcement on the March 3rd episode of AEW Dynamite, nothing had been signed between himself and All Elite Wrestling at that time.
“I didn’t know. As far as I knew, at that point in time, it was going to be a complete secret and I would just show up and be a surprise. I didn’t know that there was going to be any kid of announcement, honestly, on Wednesday, there was nothing signed, so it was a shock to me when I heard it, but obviously I think Tony and I hit it off pretty quick and we felt comfortable enough that we were going to get something done and work together at that point.
I wasn’t sure that I was going to after the Rumble and all the talks I had with WWE were very cordial. Jon [Moxley] talked to me and had his opinions and made me think, okay I am doing myself a disservice if I don’t at least explore my options. At this final stage of my career, I had a conversation with Tony and it escalated very quickly, within a week, it was a done deal.”
