In a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Davey Richards discussed several topics and revealed that three to four months into working with Major League Wrestling that he was offered a two-year contract extension by the company.

“So, when I left wrestling, I had gotten into medical school, so I’m like man, I’m going to be set for life, I’m going to be a doctor you know and that’s great, and then there was something definitely missing and that’s where I know I’m right when I say that, if you get it, no explanation needed, you know the rest.

There was something missing and then, there’s this show called Cobra Kai, I was watching with my wife and there’s this scene where the narrator says God doesn’t give people things he doesn’t want them to use and I was like man, I got to go back and finish this my way, there’s stuff left in the basement, to quote Rocky and so, IMPACT reached out and AEW reached out and MLW reached out and the AEW guys were awesome, their schedule was a little bit difficult for me.

One, I’m a Dad and two, I do have another career, and so MLW reached out and they were great and I’m really glad I made that decision and I didn’t really know much about them, I’m going to be completely candid with you, and just the more we talked, the more it just became a natural fit and then, I think three months in, maybe four months in, they offered me a two-year contract extension and it was like, no problem, so I’m very happy to be with them for the long-term.

I hope things keep going as well as they are now, it’s one of those things where it’s so good you know, it’s like something, but you know, wrestling as a whole for me since I’ve come back has been so positive and great that I’m just, I’m internally in debt, so it’s been great.”
