Robert Evans, who was signed to WWE creative in the fall of 2016 having previously worked as a wrestler for promotions including Ring of Honor and CHIKARA under the ring names of RD Evans and Archibald Peck, was let go by the company the night of the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, according to a report from PWInsider.com.
The report notes that Evans was let go at the Hall of Fame ceremony after a speech that he had produced featured a mention of Vince McMahon, something McMahon has strongly stressed for years that he is against, as he does not want to be mentioned or praised during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, to the point that it has become something of a running joke and that when McMahon’s name was mentioned, Evans took the blame as writer and producer, with the firing taking place at the gorilla position as the show was ongoing.
