Director Mikiko Sasaki has released the full 2016 documentary on legendary Japanese wrestler The Great Sasuke (Masanori Murkawa) for free on YouTube, adding an additional option of something to watch during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

The description for the documentary reads, “The Great Sasuke chronicles one life-changing year in the career of a regional Japanese wrestler and local politician known as The Great Sasuke. Sasuke describes wrestling as his “tenshoku” — a lifework assigned by god. He considers himself not just an entertainer but a public servant, which once lead him to win a seat as an assembly legislator of his home prefecture, Iwate. In constant observance to his public persona, Sasuke has never removed his mask in and out of the ring — even as a politician.   Set in the suburb of Morioka City in northern Japan, his story begins when Sasuke, now in his 40s, marks his 20th anniversary as a wrestler. With dwindling attendance to his performances and his declining health, Sasuke is now at a crossroads. He decides to climb back into both arenas — wrestling and politics — for a final battle royale.”
