WWE Hall of Famer Edge revealed during his WWE 24 episode that he held talks with “another company” and that it was not part of a bidding war with the WWE.

Edge said that following his appearance at WWE Summerslam in 2019, when he delivered a spear to Elias, another company within the industry (All Elite Wrestling) contacted him and said that they were interested and wanted to know if he could wrestle and that at that point, he did not know if he could and that before he did anything, he decided that he needed to find out if he could, confirming reports that AEW made an offer similar to what WWE had offered him to return.

Edge said that some discussions were had and that the one thing he told the other company through all of their talks was that when they give him their offer, he is going to go talk to Vince McMahon, as Vince has done right by him his entire career, gave him a chance and trusted him to be able to pull of a lot of things, including being a pillar for his shows and being a general, which goes a long way.

Edge noted that he reached out to Vince McMahon and told him that they needed to talk face to face and not through text messages or phone calls and that they sat down and talked, noting that it was not trying to get in to a bidding war or anything like that as WWE did not know that his return would be possible and neither did he. Edge added that Vince McMahon wanted to see if he could be cleared and that after he was sent for testing, Dr. Joseph Maroon gave him the green light and that he texted his wife Beth Phoenix to let her know that he was cleared, which set the wheels in motion for his WWE return.
