In an update on the potential WWE and All Japan Pro Wrestling alliance, Wrestling-News.net can confirm after speaking to several sources that the Japanese promotion would serve as a new developmental territory to the WWE, which would allow them to sign talent from countries that they’re slowly tapping into including China, India, South Korea and Japan itself and have them train and learn their craft with All Japan Pro Wrestling, prior to any callup to the main WWE roster.

As we mentioned previously on the website, WWE’s John Laurinaitis met with All Japan Pro Wrestling’s President Masayuki Uchida and Kaz Hayashi, a member of AJPW’s Board of Directors on August 10th, 2012 when an agreement was made to form a cooperation between both promotions. Many within the company felt that this would see several WWE stars heading to Japan, while AJPW stars head to WWE as part of a talent swap, similar to that done between New Japan Pro Wrestling and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in Mexico, however that is not the case entirely.

We can confirm that WWE stars would be making appearances at AJPW events should the deal go through, however the appearances would not be part of a talent swap and would be done similar to how they are on WWE NXT as of now, with top named stars being advertised for the events, but not appearing on the televised version of the show.

There were also reports last night that All Japan Pro Wrestling had some financial difficulties as of late, however we can’t confirm as to whether WWE have had any involvement in purchasing and financing some of the company, as reports last night attributed to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that the promotion had reached out to BUSHIROAD, the owners of New Japan Pro Wrestling, about potentially purchasing and financing the company.

If anything else becomes available on the situation, Wrestling-News.net will keep you updated.
