Prior to today’s AJPW event at the Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair came out and announced that due to doctors orders, he will be unable to compete in the scheduled tag team match later in the night and said that he is sorry for those who came to see him compete, before announcing that his son Reid would be taking his place in the match.

Also of note was that Jun Akiyama, Go Shiozaki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Kotaro Suzuki and Atsushi Aoki, all formerly of the NOAH promotion appeared at the event and are now known as BURNING. Akiyama shook hands in the ring with All Japan Pro Wrestling President Masayuki Uchida, who announced several matches involving the 5 men for upcoming events. Uchida announced that on March 17th, Jun Akiyama and Go Shiozaki will challenge GET WILD (Takao Omori & Manabu Soya) for the AJPW Unified World Tag Team Championships, however before that, on the February 23rd event at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Atsushi Aoki will face off against Hiroshi Yamato, Kazushi Miyamoto will take on Kotaro Suzuki, Go Shiozaki will face Manabu Soya, Jun Akiyama will face Takao Omori and Shuji Kondo defending his AJPW World Junior Heavyweight Championship against Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
