Darren Drozdov, best known to professional wrestling fans as Droz has passed away at the age of 54, with the news confirmed by WWE.
Droz spent time as part of the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos, departing the Broncos in 1995 following his release and signed with the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL in 1996.
Drozdov made appearances for the Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion from 1997 to 1998 in a stable of invaders from the WWE alongside Lance Wright, Doug Furnas, Phil LaFon and Brakkus. In 1998, Drozdov made his debut for the World Wrestling Federation as an associate of the Legion of Doom under the name Puke. Drozdov also worked the Brawl For All Tournament that same year, losing to Bradshaw in the Semi Finals.
Drozdov’s career came to an end during the October 5th WWE SmackDown tapings. While the match was never shown to the public and edited out of the October 7th broadcast, footage of Drozdov being taken out on a stretcher featured on WWE’s “Don’t Try This At Home” messages in the years after.
Following his WWE career coming to an end, Drozdov worked as a writer and columnist for the WWE in their online and magazine departments and would often appear as a recurring guest on WWE’s Byte This! internet show.
