Former WCW wrestler Johnny Meadows (real name John Condrone) has passed away following a battle with COVID-19, with the news revealed on Meadows’ Facebook page.

According to a report from The Daily Times, Meadows tested positive for COVID-19 back in September and had been on a ventilator support system since September 28th.

Meadows, who began wrestling in 1981, worked for several promotions, including Southeastern Championship Wrestling and WCW as an enhancement talent and was part of several tag teams including The Paradise City Rockers with Joey Cazana, The Dream Team with Don Lucas and The Cruisers with Terry Bronson and was also part of The Stingers, who were henchmen in the NWA/WCW for Ric Flair and portrayed the characters of The Red Rocker and The Italian Stallion.

Meadows was also a Dove and Grammy-nominated ASCAP songwriter, known for being part of groups such as Tranquility Express and The Roane State Boys
