Triple H held a post-WWE NXT Takeover: Toronto conference call after last night’s event. HHH thanked everyone for being on the call and said that they had the highest grossing NXT event in Canada with almost 13,800.
HHH said that he felt the show was phenomenal across the board, stating that knowing where you are going at the end of the night, the pacing was different and you have to structure things so that they can connect in a different way. HHH put over the main event and said that it was reminiscent of the Three Stages of Hell Match and that they wanted to have something a little unique and different and make it something that was theirs and something that can be more down the line, likening it to an epic film trilogy and said that you needed a great final battle scene to set the tone for the end. HHH then said that he would open things up for the Q&A session.
The first caller asked about the Toronto crowd. HHH said that there were moments of ebb and flow, but you want that ad said that he felt that the crowd was great and said that when you know the last thing is going almost an hour and on the monitors, they can see what is happening in the arena, at no point, there was not anyone standing in the arena and felt that they were spectacular and gave the fans something spectacular. The next caller asked about William Regal coming out after the show went off the air to shake Johnny Gargano’s hand. HHH said that Regal did that on his own and that when you put on that type of show that Gargano had, how do you not stand up and cheer for that, even if you booed him at the start of the match like some of the crowd did. HHH said that whether Gargano remains or that was his swansog, we will see as there are more shows this weekend. The next caller asked about The Street Profits. HHH said that when you have that much raw athletic ability, what is the limit and how do you put a ceiling on them. HHH said that he just lets them do what they do and that the sky is the limit, which is why they are on RAW every week as they are entertaining and that it is scary to think how good Montez Ford will be.
The next caller asked about the usage of barbed wire and weapons in the main event, just a few weeks after Vince McMahon said that the company would not go towards blood and guts and that the WWE had graduated from that and questioned how does he rectify the two. HHH said that there was nothing used that is not usually, except for the barbed wire, which was teased but was not actually used and said that there was not any blood. HHH said that anyone complaining was digging deep and implied that anyone who felt that way was wrong, but the noted that he was not speaking about anyone in particular, but just in general. HHH said that people need to get off their conspiracy theories and said that there was no intentional blood and guts in the match.
The next caller asked about EVOLVE & WWN Champion Austin Theory being in the crowd. HHH said that Theory is with EVOLVE, but that NXT has an agreement with them. The next caller asked about Matt Riddle calling out several WCW names online, including Bill Goldberg. HHH said that Riddle has an opinion and he can say what he wants, noting that he is a adult and an outspoken person.
The next caller asked about the rumors of NXT moving to FS1. HHH said that there is talk of people doing movies that never actually happen and said that they are on the WWE Network every Wednesday night and that is where things stand until they change. The next caller asked about the idea of doing an all-female show. HHH said that WWE Evolution and the Mae Young Classic have proven that they can do that, but feels the shows are the best when you have everything all together on equal playing ground as it is about the equality of that and said that the men and women all matter and you could go either way with it and that would be fine.
The next caller asked about Johnny Gargano and how he has only worked TV. HHH said that they wanted him to take time off to heal up and said that they held the reigns on him so that he could hold up and have a great performance and said that they did not wat him to have anything nagging holding him up. The next caller asked about The Velveteen Dream’s entrance and what was the thought process. HHH said that Dream’s entrance was a combination of different ideas being put together and said that brought them to where they were tonight and that they were fortunate to have the Toronto Raptors involved and that they were excited to be part of it and that they made it more special.
The next caller asked about Cris Cyborg joining the company. HHH said that they do not promote MMA, but that if she is interested in learning about what they do, then they can have a conversation if she calls him and said that Ronda Rousey is an example of someone who could transfer in, noting that they are interested in the person and if they find someone who has a passion for this and can make something happen, then they want to see if they can help them live their dreams and they should get in touch. The final caller asked when they will get to Latin America. HHH said that will happen over time and that they can only do so many things at a time. HHH said that there have been a few opportunities where they have talked about it, but that they have to weight the options and possibilities and decide where they want to go. HHH said that NXT has become the third global brand and that there were people from Indonesia at a signing yesterday talking to him about it and that it is weird for him to think about the little thing that started in Florida is now global and said that if you ask enough on social media, they will get there.
