Triple H took part in a media conference call today to promote the WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn live special on the WWE Network. WWE’s Adam Hopkins opened the call and welcomed everyone and said that for the first time-ever, they are doing the call from WWE’s headquarters and passed it along to Triple H.

Triple H said that it was a historic week for NXT in terms of making it fill its own niche and being its own brand and said that it will be a huge opportunity for them to reach out and get more attention and that when the idea first came up for SummerSlam, they were looking for a venue to compliment the SummerSlam activities and then a suggestion was made of running the Barclays Center since they already had the venue, however he wasn’t a big fan of that idea. Triple H said that they were going to curtain it off at 6,000 seats, but those sold before they even officially went on sale, so they went the entire way and said that they are very excited because it is New York and it speaks to the brand and the excitement for the brand and the future of the WWE in general. Triple H then pushed the card for Saturday and pushed Jushin Thunder Liger appearing, Joe vs. Corbin and a dual main event as Sasha Banks takes on Bayley and Kevin Owens takes on Finn Bálor. Triple H said that before he goes any further, he wants to clarify something after the announcement of the entire card and said that the entire card is not for the WWE Network live and that the show in Brooklyn will first film a 90-minute episode of WWE NXT for the post-Takeover, while the WWE NXT: Takeover special will air live after the TV tapings. Triple H said that he has an exclusive announcement and that the WWE will do a Fan Experience on September 28th that will allow fans a chance to enter and experience the behind the scenes of the WWE Performance Center which will be open to 40 fans and will include a full tour, Q&A session and the opportunity to witness the different training and classes and see how it all goes over the course of the day, plus the fact that the fan will be a participant in the day and not just a person in the room, with the exception of taking bumps and said that the fan will be able to do a promo class and watch a special exclusive WWE NXT event for them and members of the WWE NXT staff with tickets going on sale Monday at Noon on www.NXTTickets.com. Triple H said that he will then open the floor for questions.

The first caller asked if the WWE are now looking at doing NXT Takeover specials before major pay-per-view events. Triple H said that they are looking at ideas, but he prefers to piggyback NXT major events onto major week-long WWE events to that they can be part of the entire experience and pushed the WWE NXT panel on Saturday morning in Brooklyn, saying that he will be there, as well as a lot of the NXT roster who will be discussing the effect of WWE NXT on the business. Triple H said that he doesn’t know too many entertainment entities that can sell out three straight nights in New York and that is a bold statement and said that a few months ago, he said that 2015 was the year where they tried different things and that NXT is unique and doesn’t want it to be like RAW or SmackDown and that it needs to have its own identity.

The next caller asked about the fact that so many talents have been brought up to the main roster and asked what is the succession plan to keep talents coming up and keep the brand a viable entity and brought up the potential deal with WWNLive. Triple H said that Vince McMahon will take who he wants and that is the battle that they will always have to fight in NXT, but that is also the strength of NXT and not its weakness and said that he is thrilled when talents get called up and move on to the WWE main roster, but it also creates opportunities for WWE NXT to keep the brand fresh and exciting by creating new stars and that despite what some people say online about NXT raiding the independent scene, he does not cherry pick anywhere and he just wants talented people, wherever they come from and that can be the independent scene or mainstream sports and he doesn’t care where they come from as talent is talent and brought up how good Kurt Angle was and said that he never worked the independent scene and said that you work with the talent, wherever they come from, to make them better and that it is a challenge for sure as sometimes, long-term plans get thrown out the window when someone he has a plan for gets called up to the main roster, but that just makes him work harder to keep things growing.

The next caller asked about the women being called up to the main roster and his thoughts on that. Triple H said that it was awesome and said that for years, seeing talents move to the main roster is always awesome and he feels like a proud father watching these kids going from raw clay to getting it, to getting called up and being recognized and they put out an opportunity for the women to perform in a way that they had never done before and they took that chance and changed the paradigm of the business, as did the women that were already on the main roster and said that he looks forward to them main eventing events and being as important as anyone else and said that Charlotte and Sasha Banks’ goal is to main event WrestleMania and that is their belief system and they’ve instilled that into them and they want to make that a reality and he doesn’t doubt that with their drive and passion that it will happen.

The next caller asked about NXT running opposite Ring of Honor in Texas and whether a potential deal with EVOLVE Wrestling could be to target Ring of Honor and whether they are considering ROH as competition to WWE NXT. Triple H said that it is funny how people see different things and said that other companies piggyback off of major WWE events and it makes sense for them to do the same thing and it is part of their discovery process for the NXT brand and that when they made the decision to run in Texas, he was unaware that Ring of Honor was running and that when they made the decision to run Takeover on a Saturday this weekend, that was the best decision for WWE business and nothing more. Triple H said that they are looking for quality events and shows that can help support the business overall, in reference to EVOLVE Wrestling and Gabe Sapolsky and said that the independent scene and other entities under WWE are important to the health of the business and he doesn’t want to see anyone fail, but he is going to do what is right for WWE’s business and if it effects someone else’s business plan, then he can’t help that, because his primary duty is to WWE’s business.

The next caller asked about the Canadian talents in NXT and who the company were using to scout Canadian talent. Triple H said that it is the same eyes and ears that he has watching the rest of the globe and said that he has a recruiting team and William Regal is a big part of that and that they are scouting and recruiting globally and that they don’t say, oh, we need Canadians as they are looking for the best talents globally and said that Canada has such a rich tradition and that guys get a ton of work and having a good reputation is important and pointed out that guys get trained right by the likes of Lance Storm and others up there and that leads to opportunities, but that does not lead to any additional opportunities.

The next caller asked about the ticket sales for Saturday. Triple H said that every time they leap another hurdle, it is another chance for them to prove this it is its own brand and that NXT guys are selling tickets and selling merchandise and that there is excitement all around within the company and they are looking at going international and the United Kingdom is going to be very exciting. Triple H then joked that the internet just exploded on that one and said that once a month, he is going to Vince McMahon and saying, check this out, you are not going to believe this and that this is not just about making sure that they have future talents, although that is an important part of it, but that it’s much, much more.

The next caller asked whether talents who get called up to the main roster will continue to go back and forth and if that was going to be a model going forward. Triple H said that everyone wants to go to the main roster and be a big star, but if the other side of the coin is being in NXT, then that’s not a bad spot to be in and said that he might move people who don’t have a current spotlight or role back down to NXT to help revitalize them and pointed out Tyson Kidd and Cesaro being key examples of that and said that they have a brand that they can do anything with and that there is no rulebook for NXT.

The last caller asked about the debut of Apollo Crews at the weekend. Triple H said that he is a great talent and that they are looking forward to getting him on board with the WWE Playbook and by that, he means getting guys into a position where they can be best marketed and used by the company based on their vision and said that Crews has all the tools and he is looking forward to his debut and said that there are also going to be some big debuts soon and that will bring fresh blood in as others move to the main roster and that Crews has that young, hungry fire to him and he is looking forward to Crews becoming a massive star for the company.
