Ring Of Honor Wrestling sent out the following:
TOURNAMENT TO CROWN ROH WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION SET FOR SUMMER; QUINN MCKAY WILL WRESTLE ANGELINA LOVE ON TV
BALTIMORE — ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis Bennett delivered two bombshell announcements regarding the women’s division at the 19th Anniversary pay-per-view.
Bennett joined Quinn McKay in the ring to reveal that a tournament to crown a new ROH Women’s World Champion will take place this summer. She invited female competitors from all over to compete in the tournament.
A women’s title tournament had been scheduled for last April but was cancelled due to the pandemic.
After The Allure’s Angelina Love and Mandy Leon came out to question Bennett’s authority, Bennett said that Love would receive a first-round bye in the tournament if she won a match — and that match would be against McKay. Bennett added that the bout would happen on a future episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling.”
McKay has been wanting a match with Love ever since Love and Leon attacked her on the “ROH Week By Week” set in November.
McKay began pro wrestling training at the ROH Dojo two years ago, but when she was given an opportunity to be a backstage interviewer shortly thereafter, she walked away from training to focus entirely on broadcasting.
