New Japan Pro Wrestling sent out the following:
Full Lineup for Destruction in Kobe! Goto and Shingo to collide!
The full lineup has been finalised for Destruction in Kobe on Sunday September 22, with Hirooki Goto and Shingo Takagi in a huge singles contest underneath Jay White versus Tetsuya Naito in the main event.
Destruction in Kobe will be presented LIVE and in English on NJPW World!
The main event has already been determined, as Jay White challenges Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. White defeated Tetsuya Naito to eliminate him from the G1 Climax last month, but it was Naito sitting back after proving his superiority in London at Royal Quest. How will their title match play out?
In the semi-main event, Hirooki Goto takes on Shingo Takagi. Takagi and Goto has an all out war to close their respective G1 Climax campaigns in the Budokan. Ever since, both have been eager for a rematch, and get their wishes granted in Kobe.
Kazuchika Okada and SANADA are on a collision course for Ryogoku Sumo Hall and King of Pro Wrestling on October 14. In Kobe, Okada teams with SHO and YOH against SANADA with EVIL and BUSHI as a preview for that encounter.
Ten man tag team action will see Kota Ibushi team with Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, Will Ospreay and Robbie Eagles against El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori, Tanga Loa, Tama Tonga and KENTA. A week removed from their IWGP Junior Tag Team Championship match, the Birds of Prey and ELP and Ishimori will be looking ahead to the Road to Power Struggle in October, and making their cases for entry into the Super Junior Tag League.
Rocky Romero, Tiger Mask, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Jyushin Thunder Liger will face DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Zack Sabre Junior and Minoru Suzuki. Junior heavyweight tag teams are all vying for competitive spots up and down the card, while Liger and Suzuki will continue to be in each other’s faces, and Tanahashi and ZSJ may still have personal issues stemming from their title match one week before.
Togi Makabe, Tomoaki Honma and Toa Henare will face Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi and Bad Luck Fale, and we will also see the culmination of the Young Lion Cup. The order of the second and third matches of the evening will be determined by league standings, but we do know that Yuya Uemura and Yota Tsuji will team with Yuji Nagata against Michael Richards, Alex Coughlin and Manabu Nakanishi in the opener, before Shota Umino takes on Karl Fredericks, and Ren Narita faces Clark Connors. Who will win the 12th Young Lion Cup?
