PW Ponderings are reporting that independent star El Generico has signed with WWE.

Generico, real name Rami Sebei, is considered one of the best talents on the independent scene and is best known for his work with CHIKARA and PWG. Generico recently pulled out of PWG’s DDT4 event, which lead to speculation about his future. The acquisition of Generico continues WWE’s recent trend of turning to the indies for new talent, with the likes of Antonio Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, Kassius Ohno and Seth Rollins all signing with WWE on the back of their indy work.

More on this breaking news to follow.

Update:  It would appear Generico will be appearing at PWG’s DDT4 event afterall.  They sent out a Tweet moments ago:

“Even though he’s injured, El Generico insists on being at PWG for DDT4! He’s back in the tournament with Kevin Steen!”

There has still been no official word from Generico or WWE on this subject, but several sources are saying the deal has been done.
