In an interview with Sports Illustrated, IMPACT Wrestling’s Ed Nordholm noted that Anthem Media are re-working their talent contracts and will allow anyone who leaves the company to continue to use their gimmick, even if it was created when they were part of the IMPACT Wrestling roster.

Nordholm noted during the interview that he was aware of the development of the Matt Hardy character on WWE RAW and said that there have been no new negotiations between the two parties or any other discussion of revenue sharing over the “Broken” gimmick. IMPACT Wrestling or any other company/person have until December 19th to oppose Hardy’s trademark of the character, which will then effectively become his own.

Nordholm said that he will be interested to see where WWE take the concept, before noting that IMPACT Wrestling’s new talent agreements all incorporate language that allow talent to continue to use their IMPACT persona after they leave the company and said that they are working with their legal team to amend existing agreements to extend this to all of their current and former talent.
