Former WWE Champion John Cena announced during the opening segment of tonight’s WWE RAW that he will be undergoing surgery on draining the fluid from his elbow and for a torn triceps and as a result, he will be out of action for between 4 to 6 months.

Cena noted that he knew that he would need the surgery a few weeks back and that the company initially wanted to change or yank the WWE Summerslam match, so that he could have the surgery, however he refused, so that he would still wrestle Daniel Bryan.

The word backstage over WWE Summerslam weekend was that Cena should be back to action around the time of the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
