AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill took part in the media scrum following the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view and discussed several topics, including her growth as a performer, aligning with Stokely Hathaway (fka Malcolm Bivens on WWE NXT) and more.

Cargill said that in regards to her growth as a performer, she works in a company with people who have wrestled for 10 years plus on the independents and feels that she is killing it in her second year. Cargill noted that she was an athlete before professional wrestling, but that wrestling is a whole different world in general and that she is still learning every day in the business.

Cargill was asked about the surprise appearance of Stokely Hathaway (fka Malcolm Bivens in WWE NXT) and said that Hathaway is the best talker in the game and said that Tony made the best decision. Tony Khan said that Hathaway’s non-compete expired a day before Double or Nothing and that he had never spoken to him before the pay-per-view, but that he had him in mind since 2018 and had talked about him with Cody. Khan said that Hathaway was in Las Vegas today and they met each other and he wanted him to go under that name due to his history with Ring of Honor, noting that it was cool and that it worked out. Jade said that she did not know anything about it until the pay-per-view and that it was a surprise for her and she was as excited as the fans were. Khan said that they can be like the new Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan.

Jade noted that it feels great about the growth of AEW’s women’s division, as her first promo was about elevating the division and said that women’s wrestling in general needs to progress and get bigger and better. Jade said that she wants to reach the demographic that isn’t currently watching wrestling right now and is here to try and reach out and crossover to those outside the wrestling fans that are already watching. Tony Khan said that when they are invited, they go and visit sports teams and that while the wrestling fans recognize her straight away, the fans who don’t know wrestling really react to her. Jade was asked about Sonny Kiss potentially being part of “The Baddies” and said that she thinks that Sonny is a ‘bad b****’, but that they are really stacked and loaded right now and that she can only do so much.
