“The Resurrection of Jake Roberts”, a documentary about WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts’ attempts to overcome his demons with the assistance of his longtime friend Diamond Dallas Page has been acquired for theathrical distribution by Slamdance Presents, the distribution arm of the Slamdance Film Festival, according to a report from Variety.

The film will have a theatrical run that will also include post-screening Q&A sessions with Roberts, Diamond Dallas Page and/or director Steve Yu, however appearances will vary based on the market. The film’s first screening will take place on September 2nd in Portland, Oregon as part of the Portland Film Festival before rolling out to a number of markets including Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago and more.

The promotional material for the documentary reads, “In the late 80s, Jake “The Snake” Roberts was among the most famous professional wrestlers in the world. His talent was undeniable. The giant snakes he threw upon his opponents, unforgettable. 30 years later, Roberts has lost his family and his fortune to his reckless lifestyle. Waiting to die, a chance visit from and old friend and student sends him on a path to rediscover himself before it’s too late.”
