In an interview with ABC Local 24 Memphis News, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler provided additional details on the death of his son (former WWE superstar Brian Christopher aka Grandmaster Sexay), including the last phone call that he received from his son.

Lawler noted at 10:30, the morning that Brian passed away, he was in Raleigh, North Carolina and received a phone call from Brian, a collect call that was monitored and recorded and timed to 15 minutes. Lawler noted that Brian talked perfectly rational and perfectly normal and just went on a little bit of how they had a meeting a couple of weeks ago with the sheriff and how none of the stuff that the sheriff had promised would take place had taken place. Lawler noted that Brian talked about the bad conditions there in the jail, but that they got cut-off mid-sentence after 15 minutes

Lawler had said that previously, when he and Bran met with the sheriff, they were told that time in jail would be beneficial for Brian. Lawler stated that hours after the call, he received a phonecall from the sheriff who said that Brian was acting a fool and picked a fight with somebody that he should not have picked a fight with. Lawler noted that the sheriff told him that Brian suffered a laceration over his eye, but was stitched up. Lawler said that this was different to what eyewitnesses told him, in that Brian did receive a cut to his head, but was given no medical treatment. Lawler said that he still believes that things do not add up when taking into account his conversation with Brian, the eyewitness accounts and what the sheriff told them.
