Kevin Kelly, who was the voice of Ring of Honor since 2010, departed the company earlier this week, according to a report from PWInsider.com.
Kelly took a full-time job with the company in their office last year, where he juggled his announcing duties with logistical duties that were meant to ease the pressures on Ring of Honor booker Hunter “Delirious” Johnston. Kelly’s duties involved working as a liaison between the wrestlers and the office to ensure better communications and to help spearhead projects that Ring of Honor needed to work on including a streaming service and updated website.
The report notes that Kelly completed his duties for the office this past week and is not currently scheduled for any additional announcing for the company at this time and was not scheduled for this weekend’s ROH events, but will be travelling to Japan to call the New Japan Pro Wrestling event this Sunday in Sapporo, Japan, meaning that his ROH exit will have no bearing on his duties with New Japan, who have expanded their English language commentary for their New Japan World streaming service. using Kelly and Don Callis as their announce team.
Kelly is the third announcer to depart Ring of Honor in recent months as Steve Corino ended up signing with WWE as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center, while Nigel McGuinness took on a role to become a commentator at the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament and was recently announced as Corey Graves’ replacement on WWE NXT programming going forward.
