Newly-crowned AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander took part in the post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum and discussed several topics, including her return to the company, becoming the new AEW TBS Champion, her recovery from injury and more.

Statlander noted that the timetable for her return went about as expected in the 6-8 months recovery timeframe post-op and noted that the recovery gave her a lot of time to mentally prepare for her comeback and that there were a lot of ups and downs, a lot of self doubts but that moments like becoming the AEW TBS Champion made it worth it.

Statlander said that she wanted to make her return special and would not have jumped into the deep end if she didn’t feel ready in terms of coming back from her injury and winning the title. Statlander said that she was very quiet in the things she done during her time off and said that if people had seen all that, they would be like, she has been ready for this.

Statlander said that the original though was that it was an ACL and meniscus tear, but that it was just an ACL and said that having endured a major injury before, her mental preparation for her comeback was easier this time around having gone through it before. Statlander said that she was initially upset when she found out about the injury, but was determined to work hard to get to where she wanted to be.
