In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, All Elite Wrestling superstar Matt Hardy opened up on his decision to sign with the company.

“For me, AEW made the most sense. I could see Vince and WWE, they already had it in their mind, Vince was ready to move me from being a talent to working backstage, being a producer and giving back and teaching other guys behind the scenes. I’m very happy to do that, but later on, these last few years that I have left to do this physically, I want to do it, I want to enjoy it, the whole reason I got into pro wrestling in the first place was because I love the idea of performing and being a pro wrestler, I don’t want to give that up right now even though they offered to do other things after I expressed my concern.

I knew in my head they already made up their mind how they see me, I knew I needed to go somewhere else, AEW was the best case scenario for me. The Young Bucks, I’m very good friends with those guys, there is such a refreshing creative liberty and also, I can create a freedom where I have input and I really have a hand in the direction my career goes in. I’ve been enjoying this, this is a great place on top of being able to perform and do what I want to do in my last few years, I can still help young talent as well.”
