WWE are now signing new NXT talents to five-year contracts, as opposed to the previously offered three-year contracts, with the goal to lock-in talent for a more extended period of time before they can hit the free agent market, according to a report from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.
The report notes that it is unclear as to when the WWE began offering these five-year contracts, as they recently announced the signings of Shane Strickland, Trevor Lee, ACH and DJZ, but with the company looking to sign new talent, the talents offered deals will have a harder time turning down the five-year deals, even if they want lesser terms, as the WWE offers them guaranteed money compared to other promotions.
